Where is the hire space located?
We're based at 47 Church Street, Caversham, Reading, RG4 8BA — right in the heart of the village. There is 3 hours of free parking available behind the building, with access from both the front and rear.

What is included in the hire?
The academy space (5m x 7m) includes 6 stainless steel work tables and seating for up to 12 people, 4 sinks, multiple power points, and accessible toilets. Hire prices are inclusive of electricity and refuse. Additional seating is available for events of up to 20 people.

What is the dark kitchen and what does it include?
The dark kitchen (4m x 3m) is available as a standalone hire or alongside the main academy space. It includes 2 industrial ovens, a 10L mixer, 4 KitchenAid mixers, 2 induction hobs, utensils, bowls, and cleaning equipment, everything you need for a professional food event or production session.

How much does it cost to hire the space?
The academy space is £30 per hour, or £160 for a full day (6 hours). The dark kitchen is £40 per hour, or £200 for a full day (6 hours). Both are available to hire together or separately.

What types of events is the space suitable for?
Our space is ideal for food businesses, artists, florists, creatives, and educational groups. We regularly host workshops, wellness events, food pop-ups, creative classes, and more. If you're not sure whether your event is a good fit, get in touch and we'll be happy to chat.

When is the space available?
The space is available on the following days and times:

• Monday: 9am – 11pm
• Tuesday to Saturday: 4pm – 11pm
• Sunday: 12pm – 11pm

Can you provide catering for my event?
Yes! We can offer catering on request, including our branded and shop treats as well as hot and cold drinks. Just let us know when you enquire and we'll put something together for you.

Is the space wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, the hire space is located upstairs above the shop and is not currently accessible to wheelchair users. We apologise for any inconvenience.

What are the booking and cancellation terms?

Full payment is required at the time of booking, or within 24 hours of receiving your confirmation from us. If you need to cancel, we offer a full refund for cancellations made more than 7 days before your hire date, and a 50% refund for cancellations made between 3 and 7 days before. Cancellations within 48 hours of your booking are non-refundable. At any stage, you're welcome to take a credit note to the full value of your booking instead, redeemable against a future hire within 6 months.

Terms & Conditions – BKRY Space Hire

1. Booking & Payment

• All bookings are subject to availability and are only confirmed once full payment has been received.
• Full payment is required at the time of booking, or within 24 hours of receiving a booking confirmation from BKRY.
• Bookings are made by completing the enquiry form on our website. A member of the BKRY team will confirm your booking in writing via email.

2. Cancellation & Refunds

• Cancellations made more than 7 days before the booking start time will receive a full refund.
• Cancellations made between 3 and 7 days before the booking start time will receive a 50% refund.
• Cancellations made within 48 hours of the booking start time will be charged in full and no refund will be issued.
• In all cases, hirers may alternatively choose to receive a credit note to the full value of their booking, redeemable against a future hire date within 6 months.
• BKRY reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a booking in exceptional circumstances. In this case, a full refund or alternative date will be offered.

3. Use of the Space

• The space must only be used for the purpose stated at the time of booking.
• The hirer is responsible for ensuring the space is used lawfully and in a manner that does not cause nuisance, damage, or disturbance to BKRY staff, neighbouring businesses, or the public.
• Maximum capacity is 40 people (standing). The hirer must not exceed this limit at any time.
• The hire space is located upstairs and is not accessible to wheelchair users. It is the hirer's responsibility to ensure this is communicated to all attendees in advance.

4. Dark Kitchen Use

• Use of the dark kitchen and its equipment is only permitted by hirers who have specifically booked and paid for kitchen hire.
• All equipment must be used with reasonable care. Any damage to ovens, mixers, or other appliances caused by misuse will be the financial responsibility of the hirer.
• Food safety and hygiene regulations must be observed at all times. It is the hirer's responsibility to ensure they hold any relevant food hygiene certifications required for their activity.

5. Cleaning & End-of-Hire Responsibilities

• The hirer is responsible for leaving the space clean and tidy at the end of their hire period.
• All surfaces, equipment, and utensils used must be cleaned before vacating.
• Rubbish must be disposed of in the relevant bins located at the rear of the building.
• Failure to leave the space in a satisfactory condition may result in an additional cleaning charge.

6. Damage & Liability

• The hirer is responsible for any damage caused to the space, fixtures, fittings, or equipment during their hire period.
• BKRY accepts no liability for any loss, injury, or damage suffered by the hirer or their guests during the hire period.
• The hirer is responsible for ensuring adequate public liability insurance is in place for their event where applicable.
• BKRY is not responsible for any loss or theft of personal belongings brought onto the premises.

7. Catering

• Any catering provided by BKRY must be arranged and confirmed in advance of the booking date.
• BKRY-branded treats and drinks are available on request and will be charged separately.

8. Parking

• Three hours of free parking is available in the car park behind the building. BKRY accepts no responsibility for any parking charges, fines, or vehicle damage incurred.

9. Access & Security

• Access to the space is only permitted during the agreed hire hours.
• The hirer must ensure all guests vacate the premises by the end of the agreed hire period.
• Any access arrangements (e.g. key collection) will be confirmed by BKRY prior to the booking date.

10. Conduct

• BKRY reserves the right to terminate a hire immediately and without refund if the hirer or their guests behave in a manner deemed threatening, abusive, or inappropriate.
• Illegal activities of any kind are strictly prohibited on the premises.

11. Photography & Marketing

• BKRY may occasionally photograph or share images of events held in the space for marketing purposes. Please let us know at the time of booking if you do not wish your event to be featured.

12. Amendments

• BKRY reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. The version in place at the time of your booking confirmation will apply to your hire.
